The Pedal Powered Talk Show is sure to bring joy
Damn it. Sometimes our Portland stereotypes result in absolute genius. The Pedal Powered Talk Show is going to be one of those things. Coming in January 2012, filmmaker Boaz Frankel (nomination for the coolest name in the world, anyone?) will be in front of the camera, hosting the PPTS by riding around the city on a desk built into a bike. He stops along the ride to interview people in cool Portland locations and watching the trailer generally causes me to smile. It’s … fantastic.
The Bike-Desk was created by local companies Metrofiets and Bamboo Craftsman and is peddled by an adorable fellow whose identity seems to be hidden (I must know his name!), but he’s in all of the promotional videos on The Pedal Powered Talk Show website. Other than the adorable biker, I have noticed that Boaz seems really obsessed with getting Zooey Deschanel on his show. Though, she might be avoiding the Pacific NW in light of her divorce (weep).
So, Boaz, I would like to suggest three other people (read: awesome chicks) that would make great guests and have Portland ties.
- Kaitlin Olson of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Sweet Dee is from Lake O and is bound to be back in the city at some point to visit family. Also, she is literally one degree from Danny DeVito, soo… there's that.
- Kristen Wiig of SNL: She’s on this season of Portlandia, and though some of us are just overwhelmed with Armisen, there’s not enough Wiig. There’s never enough Wiig.
- Megan Amram of … Twitter?: Do you know who she is? You should. Megan is a comedy writer in Los Angeles who, at her young age, is making a huge name for herself. She graduated from Catlin Gabel (in Beaverton) in 2006. And her Twitter feed is the thing dreams are made of.
So, Boaz, we here at Portland Pulp are stoked on your show idea and can’t wait for the premiere. And if you do get any of those three ladies on the show, let me know. I can come by and like, do make-up or lighting or craft services or something.
