Today in Tumblbeat: Writers and Kitties

If you want to be wildly successful, a good rule of thumb is this: Add cats. Pick something that people already like (sexy people, books, movie stars, embarrassing pictures of politicians, misspelled things) and insert cats. Ben Huh has made a killing on it. So have many, many Tumblrs. But this one does it better than them all, because the thing that cats are being added to is writers.
Writers and Kitties is a predictable adorable roundup of pictures of old white people (mostly) with the cats that inspired them. I'm not sure how many writers you know personally, but they're a breed that is fueled almost exclusively on wine, whiskey and the company of animals. Cats especially make great companions for writers because they don't need to go outside, and tend to be fairly prickly, which writers are into. You can see the complexities of their relationships in these photos.
Writers that are featured include William S. Burroughs, Charles Bukowski and Ernest Hemingway. Kitties are unnamed, but we imagine they probably had really cool names and were fascinated by the lives they led alongside such literary bigwigs.
